Preparing for Your Headshot Session

Prepare for Your Headshot Experience

How Long is the session?

Headshot sessions last about 1-2 hours. Your cinematic presentation will be available immediately after in studio or at a later scheduled date. (Ideally within one or two days.) Your reveal and consultation will last about 1 hour.

What should I do to prepare?

We provide the hair and makeup artist in your custom or upgraded sessions! Come with a clean, moisturized face and hair that was washed the day prior.

Ladies Tips

- Wear clothes that you feel great in! We want you to be comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing. That means not having to fidget with your outfit.

- Accentuate your neckline with a v-neck top, just be sure it’s not too low cut.

- Avoid tops that closely match your skin tone.

- Avoid distracting patterns or colors - unless you can layer a plain blazer over it so that not so much of the pattern is showing and there’s a nice little pop of color.

- Tight grids or small herringbone patterns can have have a strange look in photographs, try to stay away from those.
- Try to avoid short sleeves or tank tops - Executive headshots look best without bare arms, unless it fits with your brand personality, in which case, try going for a sleeveless blouse or shift dress.

- Small, classic jewelry. Earrings shouldn’t dangle more than an inch or so from the earlobe - The simpler the better!

- Bring 2-3 choices of tops and or blazers - We’ll work with them to come up with your best look.

- Avoid overdressing - the best look is one that looks and feels effortless.

- Clothes should be neatly pressed and should look new or like new.

- Professional makeup is recommended. Makeup should be clean and natural.

A heavy layer of translucent powder. This will make the shine disappear, pores look smaller and the skin will look even. Avoid shimmers or any products with too much sparkle or shine. Avoid frosts or overly-bright colors.

- Don’t get a new hair cut just before the shoot - let it grow in a bit to get that natural and comfortable look.

- Avoid using a new product on your hair, face or body the day before the session, just in case you get a bad reaction.

- Finally - Please arrive with your wardrobe for your first look and hair styled and makeup already applied at your scheduled time.
